On the count of 3.... 1...2... apostasy
I'd just like to say that I'm appalled by what I watched this man do last night "in the name of Jesus." If I recall, of all my years, though not many, of Biblical upbringing and scholarship, I have never once seen in the Bible or have been taught by my pastor that it is OK to pray to anyone BUT Christ Jesus our Lord. What Joel Hunter did last night at the DNC praying and then opening it up for people to "close the prayer the way that they would typically close prayer" as an effort to respect people of many other faiths, is a blatant disregard of Jesus Christ as the supreme and ONLY God. Doing so, Mr. Hunter recognized other religions and other faiths as being sufficient. Recognition, though not of his personal conviction (I would hope at least), is enough to say that he did not stand in opposition to the idea of poly-theism. Yes, Mr. Hunter may believe in God and Jesus Christ, however, why he would recognize and encourage others to finish that prayer "they way they usually do" respective to their own faiths, is beyond me and frankly appalling. This man, had the opportunity to proclaim the only name that has authority and dominion, that at that very name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that HE and HE ONLY is Lord, decided instead to recognize other religions and deities and EVEN ENCOURAGE PRAYER TO THEM LAST NIGHT! Shame! Utter Shame.. why in a platform like the DNC would you possibly want to call yourself a pastor of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and deny HIM?
I do want to say, at least Donald Miller, who also prayed at this convention in Denver 3 days ago, stood up for what he believes in, not many, but ONE God who is Jesus Christ.
